1. What is Organic Processed Food Certification System?

Organic processed food certification system is to certify the raw materials and manufacturing process of processed foods and certify that the management system complies with the standards stipulated in the Act from a accredited certification body, allowing only the complied certified products to use the organic mark/label and the name “organic” on the products.(Enforced since 2008)

There are many cases where it is difficult to know the authenticity of organic processed foods just by analyzing the final product. A certification system that allows a reputable third-party organization to confirm the manufacturing process is a necessary system to increase the reliability of organic labels which eventually protects both consumers and producers.

2. What does Organic Processed foods exactly mean?

"Organic processed foods" refers to foods manufactured or processed using organic agricultural or/and livestock products as raw materials.

- For example, tofu made with ‘organic beans’, cheese made from ‘organic milk’ and processed foods such as fermented milk are considered as organic processed foods.

3. What is Organic Processed Animal Feed Product certification?

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Livestock Foods may certify Organic Processed Animal Feed Products for the industrial upbringing and consumer protection of Organic Processed Animal Feed Products (Article 19 of the 「Act on management and support on promoting environmental friendly farming, fisheries and organic foods」)

As a result, those who manufacture and process Organic Processed Animal Feed Products can be certified as Organic Processed Animal Feed Products in compliance with certification standards for manufacturing and processing of Organic Processed Animal Feed Products. (" Article 8, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1 of the 「Enforcement Rule of the Act on management and support on promoting environmental friendly farming, fisheries and organic foods」)

4. What does Organic Processed Animal Feed Products exactly mean?

"Organic Processed Animal Feed Products" refers to processed products that are produced, manufactured, processed or handled in an organic way by using organic products as raw materials, for use or consumption not intended for humans. (Article 2 of the 「Act on management and support on promoting environmental friendly farming, fisheries and organic foods」)
